I was born in 1958 in Aurora Illinois and had a wonderful childhood full of go-karts, motorcycles, hunting and fishing. I graduated from West Aurora High School. I spent most of my youth racing moto-cross until my body and my age were keeping me from being competitive.
In 1984 I felt the first real pain in my life when I lost my best friend and hunting partner. I lost my Dad to cancer in July. I hope he knew how much I loved him; I don't think I knew until he was gone. Looking back this was the start of a dark and sad time in my life resulting in a number of different jobs and a divorce.
It wasn't until 1989 that my life turned around when I met the love of my life, Jan. It didn't take long for the love of a good woman to make me feel like my old self again. I was soon racing again, only this time in cars, not motorcycles. After about 3 years I was slowly realizing that the cost of racing cars was too great.
Throughout my entire life the outdoors has been a big part of my life, with hunting whitetails being my biggest obsession. After years of hunting and harvesting over 100 deer and turkeys I have found what is for me the best outdoor experience; and that is stand next to a special child as they walk up to their first down deer or turkey knowing that they may have never been able to experience this moment without our help. I am humbled and honored to be asked to be part of this very special charity. I pray for the wisdom it will take to give a special child a very special hunting experience.
